On our trip to India we had the honor of meeting with some brothers and sisters who are suffering for their Savior. This is a church that had its windows busted out just a few weeks before we arrived there. Local Hindu extremists were responsible and the local government, led by the political wing of those extremists, is a little lax in pursuing justice.
This was the meeting of brothers and sisters who are facing persecution---some had been beaten and imprisoned. Some people's houses and crops burnt. But at the gathering they were making some holy noise. They had taken Phillipians 1:29, embraced it, and made it a part of themselves: "For it has been granted to you that for the sake of Christ you should not only believe in him but also suffer for his sake."
