Acclimitizationalism....

On the fourth day of walking we finally reached Manang, our mid-way point. We spent a day there to acclimatize before heading on with our trek. Manang is also home to a Tibetan group of people among whom are only a few believers. We met with a couple of them on the evening of our stay there.

From Manang, we had originally planned to hike up to a lake at about 17,000 ft. and camp out there. When we got to Manang however, we heard that the trail to the lake was snowed in. If you look closely, you can see the trail in this picture. It starts at the bottom of the white mountain, just above the "V" made by the lower hills, and then quickly get lost in the snow drifts. We decided instead to head up to the Thorung La Pass and try to make it over the range to our final destination and flight home.
