Life on the trail, pt. 1...

Here's Nathan as we entered Namche Bazaar, probably the most famous town along the trail. Namche is regarded as the entryway into the Base Camp area. We arrived here on the second day of hiking. It would be six days before we reached base camp from here.

In Namche we stayed in the Hotel Camp de Base. The girls huddled close to the electric heater in the dining room. The three dark-complexioned, rather smallish guys are not Jesse, Nathan, and Ryan, they are our porters. There was one porter for each couple. That means that they were each carrying enough stuff for three people (the couple's plus whatever they brought for themselves).
