Just over the rise behind us is Gorak Shep, the last village on the trail. We reached it and went straight on to Base Camp this day. The next morning we climbed two hours up to Kala Pattar, which you can see in this picture at the foot of the big mountain behind us. From Kala Pattar (18,300 ft.) you get a great view of Everest, which you will see in subsequent posts.
And it got colder....
